Volunteer Positions

Thursday, May 2

SETUP TEAM 1

Date: Thursday, May 2, 2019
Check-in location: Faith Path Room
Check-in time: 4pm
Check-out time: 8pm
Volunteers needed: 8
This team assembles and puts up banners, and organizes the Faith Path Room (which will serve as the Volunteer Headquarters) for Race Day. Standing, bending, going up and down stairs, lifting 25-50 lbs, and getting dirty are all required.

 

Friday, May 3

SETUP TEAM 2

Date: Friday, May 3, 2019
Check-in location: Faith Path Room
Check-in time: 11am
Check-out time: 3pm
Volunteers needed: 10
This team puts banners in place, assembles barricades, assembles outside platform, sets up the lobby (moves tables and chairs, sets up display tables, unloads/unpacks boxes of t-shirts and materials, etc.) and does anything needed to get ready for Race Day. Standing, bending, going up and down stairs, crawling under tables, lifting 25-50 lbs, and getting dirty are all required.

Date: Friday, May 3, 2019

SETUP TEAM 4

This team is responsible for last-minute prep: putting up banners, moving tables and chairs…anything needed to get ready for the race. Standing, bending, going up and down stairs, lifting 25-50 lbs, and getting dirty are all required.

CLEANUP / TEAR DOWN TEAM
Date: Saturday, May 4, 2019
Check-in location: Faith Path Room
Check-in time: 11am
Check-out time: 2pm
Volunteers needed: 20
This team is responsible for all aspects of tear down: disassembling and storing platform, moving tables and chairs, picking up trash, vacuuming, taking down banners and barricades, cleaning kitchen area, cleaning restrooms…anything that needs to be done. Standing, going up and down stairs, bending, heavy lifting 25-50 lbs, and getting dirty are all required. Adults only please.

 

PARKING TEAM
Date: Saturday, May 4, 2019

This team directs cars, directs arriving participants to the check-in tables, and offers general assistance in the parking lot. Standing for long periods of time is required.

RACE COURSE TEAM: KMs 1-6
Date: Saturday, May 4, 2019

This team sets up the kilometer markers along the entire race course, makes sure the runners stay on the course, works with the local volunteer police staff, and ensures the Race Nurse is nearby to handle any emergencies. Standing for long periods of time is required.

KM 1:  2 volunteers needed (18+ years of age required)
KM 2:  2 volunteers needed (18+ years of age required)
KM 3 and Water Station:  4 volunteers needed (18+ years of age required)
KM 4:  2 volunteers needed (18+ years of age required)
KM 5:  2 volunteers needed (18+ years of age required)
Finish Line:  2 volunteers needed (18+ years of age required). Need a physically strong adult to refill water bottle table at Finish Line and monitor recycle and trash bins.

CHECK-IN/GREETERS

You will assist with pre-registered participants, manage walk-on registrations, and distribute t-shirts.  Knowledge of iPads and maintaining friendly demeanor at all times is required. Standing for long periods of time is required.

FOOD & DÉCOR
Date: Saturday, May 4, 2019

This team is responsible for setting up pre-race breakfast/snacks, getting lunch ready and distributing, restocking food and making sure water bottles are always available. The team will also oversee setup of the décor (balloons, streamers, etc.) and food setup on race day.

BOUNCE HOUSES & PHOTO BOOTH

With the exception of the bounce houses, this team will setup the photo booth using the props provided, and supervise the bounce houses and photo booth areas. Overall, you’ll work in conjunction with the bounce house employees and provide general supervision to ensure all kids are safe and having fun.

FACE PAINTERS

This team will paint faces using supplies from the church. Responsible for setup and cleanup of all paint supplies.

CHEER TEAM!

Gimme an R! Gimme a U! Gimme an N! This team inspires…yells…rings cowbells…and just plain CHEERS for all our 6K runners. You’re invited to keep the excitement going by painting your faces, ringing bells, shaking tambourines and making NOISE! Standing for long periods of time is required – jumping with excitement is strongly encouraged! Some noisemakers will be provided, but please bring your own to spread even more joy. Bring a friend…..form a team. Let’s make our 6K Cheer Team LOUDER than the Scream Tunnel at the Boston Marathon!
Location: You can cheer anywhere along the race route…but excited cheering is ESPECIALLY appreciated along the home stretch in the church parking lot all the way to the finish line.
